Question by Nick: When did baseball players and managers start arguing calls with umpires?

You know how in baseball a player might think hes safe or out or the ball was too high, low, outside, inside and in the dirt and was still called a strike? How long have they been arguing calls with umpires? When did this start?
and fights between players and umpires?
whats the oldest one ever?

About as long as there has been baseball. I know of no fights between players and umpires. There might have been years and years ago, I mean pre 1940's. In my day managers could come out on the field and argue balls and strikes, not so now.
